“Gypsy Girl”, also known as “Sky West and Crooked”, is a British romantic drama film starring Hayley Mills. The film was directed by her father, John Mills, and was co-written by her mother, Mary Hayley Bell.
Tale of a girl's struggle to overcome the trauma of witnessing an accidental death, her subsequent regression into childhood and a romance with a gypsy boy. Ostracised by her fellow villagers, she is blamed for the shooting accident in which her friend was killed. After years of abuse and neglect, the teenager has her first taste of romance when a young gypsy boy falls for her, oblivious to her problems.
"She was a 'Gypsy Girl' ... and the village whispered that she was not quite right in the head!"
