Q: How does your poster condition grading work?
A: We inspect, authenticate and grade every movie poster we sell. We choose not to use an overly technical grading scale as the difference between one grade and another can, and often is, subjective from one person to another.
If still unsure of the condition we can happily send you additional photographs to confirm.
Excellent
Poster is in fabulous near perfect condition. May have very limited signs of handling, usually confined to the edges. It is highly unlikely any vintage movie posters will be graded as excellent.
Very Good
A great poster with possibly the smallest of imperfections. Edge or handling wear may be present, possibly showing a small amount of fold wear, the smallest of tears or the odd clean pin hole. Folded posters will have minimal, yet, age-appropriate fold-wear.
Good
This poster is a ‘survivor’ and survived pretty well intact. May be showing the odd age line or crease, again fold wear could be visible, possible tape or blu tack residue, pin holes or the smallest of paper loss. A poster that is showing its age but ageing well.
Fair
Similar to our ‘survivor’ but now starting to fade possibly with the odd age spot or foxing. May have aged fold lines, water staining or further tears and paper loss.
Poor
Posters that fall into this category are way past their best with defects that could be described as significant and may well be in need of significant restoration.
Q: What is meant by the term re-release/reissue?
A: A reissue, or re-release (often denoted by the letter R preceding the year) refers to an original movie poster, re-released either due to its popularity or for a significant anniversary. Reissues are authentic movie posters, they just do not date to the film’s very first release.
Q: What are the black squares/white circles in the corners of some of the posters?
A: These are actually magnets, which are used to hold the artwork in place for photography. The magnets have a felt bottom to prevent any damage to the poster.
