Goldfinger is a 1964 spy film and the third instalment in the James Bond series produced by EON Productions, starring Sean Connery as the fictional MI6 agent James Bond. It is based on the 1959 novel of the same title by Ian Fleming. The film also stars Honor Blackman, Gert Fröbe and Shirley Eaton.
Goldfinger follows James Bond investigating the gold-obsessed tycoon Auric Goldfinger, uncovering his scheme to irradiate America's Fort Knox gold reserve with an atomic bomb, thus making his own massive gold stockpile immensely valuable and crippling the world economy. Bond, aided by Jill Masterson (who is tragically killed by Oddjob by being covered in gold paint) and Pussy Galore, must stop Goldfinger's "Operation Grand Slam" before he triggers the bomb inside the vault.
"This is gold, Mr. Bond. All my life I've been in love with its colour ... its brilliance, its divine heaviness."
