Jabberwocky is a British fantasy comedy film co-written and directed by Terry Gilliam. Jabberwocky stars Sir Michael Palin as Dennis, a cooper's apprentice. Supported by John Le Mesurier, William H Corbett, Terry Jones and Warren Mitchell. The film's title is taken from the nonsense poem "Jabberwocky" from Lewis Carroll's 'Through the Looking-Glass' (1871).
After his father's death, young cooper Dennis Cooper (Sir Michael Palin) goes to town and must undergo several adventures. The town and the whole kingdom is threatened by a terrible monster called "Jabberwocky". Will Dennis make his fortune? Is anyone brave enough to defeat the monster? A medieval tale with Pythonesque humour.
Trivia: The monster costume was designed so that Peter Salmon had to wear it backwards, to make the Jabberwocky's leg movements more bird-like.
"Jabberwocky: the monster so horrible that people caught the plague to avoid it"
