Empire of the Ants is a 1977 science fiction horror film co-written and directed by Bert I. Gordon. Starring Joan Collins, Edward Power and Robert Lansing. Based on the 1905 short story "Empire of the Ants" by H. G. Wells.

It is the third and last film released in A.I.P.'s H.G. Wells film cycle, which includes The Food of the Gods (1976) and The Island of Dr Moreau (1977).

A ship dumps barrels of radioactive waste material into the sea, and one of them reaches the beach of the Dreamland Shores enterprise. Sleazy con artist Marilyn Fryser (Joan Collins) and her salesman, partner, and boyfriend Charlie Pearson (Edward Power) lure small-time investors, showing Dreamland Shores as if it were a good place to live and not worthless swampland. When the new group arrives in a boat, Marilyn and Charlie show them the places that will be built. Out of the blue, they are attacked by a colony of large ants and only a few survivors reach a small town. But soon they learn the secret of said town.

"... for they shall inherit the earth! ... sooner than you think!"
